ABOUT

What is Wavuna?

Wavuna is a community where anglers share live fishing sessions on a map and record their bites and catches. Every live session on the map starts from a location verified at the water.

How it works

  1. Go live

At the water, tap "Start Fishing". Your location is checked to be in or near a body of water.

  2. Record bites and catches

Tap "Report bite" when a fish strikes; when you land it, use "Log a catch" to add species, size and a photo.

  3. Share and follow

Your session appears on the map and the live feed. Follow other anglers, like and comment on their catches.

You choose your location

  • Exact: the spot where you fish is shown.
  • Approximate: your location is shown to about 1–2 km.
  • City: only your province is shown.

You can change this at any time during a live session.

Where can I use it?

In Türkiye you can go live at coasts and waters. Outside Türkiye live fishing currently has limited access: only at supported lakes, with exact or approximate sharing.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my location verified?

To make sure live sessions on the map really start at the water. Verification happens only when you start and at intervals during long sessions.

What is the difference between a Bite and a Catch?

A Bite records the moment a fish strikes. A Catch records the fish you landed with species, size and photo, and is matched to its bite when there is one.

Is the location in my photos shared?

No. Location and camera details (EXIF) are removed from uploaded photos during processing.

What is Fishing Insights?

An optional feature that turns catches into species, season and weather statistics. It is off by default; you can switch it on or off in privacy settings.

How do I download my data or delete my account?

In Settings, the "Security and your data" section lets you download your data; account deletion is at the bottom of the same page.

Why can't I go live everywhere outside Türkiye?

Abroad, verification uses reliable country borders and lake data. Sea, river and city view are not supported yet; coverage will grow over time.
